Of Ngāti Kahungunu and Falealili descent, Roberts founded Maia Ink, a Papakura studio offering tā moko and kirituhi alongside other traditional and contemporary designs. RNZ reports he is self-taught, bought his first tattoo machine in 2011, and has tattooed clients including SZA, Kehlani and RJ Hampton.
